We will have our Third Annual On Farm Helmsman Sale Wednesday 23 November 2011 commencing at 3pm.  I expect that this year we will put up around 150 rams, of which roughly one third will be Romney Rams, one third Southdown Rams and one third South Suffolk Rams and half dozen Suftex Rams.

It is a helmsman sale, which I consider much more buyer friendly, as it enables clients to be able rank the rams they buy and bid on them, if their first pick ends up going higher than what they want to pay, they can still then turn around and bid on their second pick and so on it goes, as opposed to an auction where your 5th pick say comes up before your first and second.  For a catalogue simply drop me an email ike@waidalerams.co.nz or give me a call on 03 6148388 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting            03 6148388      end_of_the_skype_highlighting

I determine the upset price, which for the last two years has been $600, first bid $650 fpr 90% of them, the balance the upset has been $400, first bid $450

Online Auction:  I am the first to have  a helmsman ram sale that is run in conjunction with an online sale. So you can bid on rams at home or by attending the sale.  You can place bids before the sale date, online and during the sale, it will be kept up to date both ways. The main practical advantage of this is that if you cant attend my sale on that day, you can come and inspect the rams prior to that date, and then bid on them from home on the day or simply leave an autobid to a certain limit: it provides the client with some flexibility about getting to see the rams.    As there will be 20 second videos of all the rams at Agonline and all their performance data, some clients simply buy them online without coming to see them at all.

As in “Trade me” if two parties are actively bidding on a lot at the close of the sale it will auto extend for two minutes until no further bids are placed.

You will be able to bid as soon as the rams are listed, which will be well before the day of the sale, around two weeks before perhaps,  but the  auction will only close at the end of the Helmsman auction on the day of the sale    The on line bids will be recorded on the board at the time of the sale. Any bids placed at the sale will be posted on the web site at the same time. On line bidders will need to refresh their screen to update bids. This applies more importantly towards the end of the auction period.
