Romney Sires 2009 

Waidale 450-08. Exceptional ram, used as a ram lamb over 50 ewes, and I seriously have a lot of good hoggets by him, probably should have kept him. He bred very well. Okay fleece, great head, good bone, good colour, unbelievably good loin and hindquarter, struggle to find better. Good SIL figures. His sire is Langley Downs, see previous year for photo of sire. 450 was sold at Feilding ram fair to Richard Brown (ie Banklea of Trigg). Richard to all intents and purposes basically stole him as he did not pay a lot for him.

Waidale 461-08 Triplet. Very good middle of the road ram, great medium wool, good colour, out of terrific breeding ewe, same mother as 178-06 above. Very correct, I used him over 50 ewes as a lamb, I have some good hoggets by him. Great Sil figures. His sire is 5-05 above.

Offord 39-06. Owen Adams kindly let me use him in 2009. He is not a big sheep, but grunty as you will ever get, strong bone, open face, good colour. He is bred well. He is by the $17000 ram bought in syndicate at Gore, who has great SIL Figures. Unfortunately Owen is not on SIL and as such his progeny SIL data is conservatively underestimated. Ie their figures are actually better than what SIL generates.

Waidale 178-06, he is by Sudeley 192-03, see previous years for photo of sire. A good medium sized sire, with absolute incedible medium wool, great colour, good black points. A very good ram, that has done a good job for me, I sold half of him for $2000. Could perhaps do with a bit more spring. Photo taken February 2008. He has a footrot score of 2,2 and cold tolerance score of A,B. He has bred well as he has done exactly what I expected of him.

Waidale 5-05, my best breeding sire by a country mile. I keep approximately 50% of his progeny, he breeds that well, good thick medium wool, phenomenal growth rates, and yet not a big ram nor does he leave big progeny. His lambs just grow flat out until about april, and then slow up. He is a single, but has an amazing fertility background as he by Tresco 148-03, (see sires of previous years for photos and information on him). He is a 1,1 on footscore, he really is a very good ram as his photo shows, but beyond that he is a ram that is a real breeder. Photo taken November 2006. I have semen available for export from 5. Unfortunately he died in the end of winter 09, so this 2009 crop is his last.
