Waidale 5-05, my best breeding sire by a country mile.  I keep approximately 50% of his progeny, he breeds that well, good thick medium wool, phenomenal growth rates, and yet not a big ram nor does he leave big progeny.  His lambs just grow flat out until about april, and then slow up.  He is a single, but has an amazing fertility background as he by Tresco 148-03, (see sires of previous years for photos and information on him).  He is a 1,1 on footscore, he really is a very good ram as his photo shows, but beyond that he is a ram that is a real breeder.  Photo taken November 2006.  I have semen available for export from 5.

29-05 website.jpg

Waidale 29-05, again a good medium size ram, a good carcase.  He is by the Braebank 887 we bought, whose progeny a full of meat.  He could have a heavier fleece.  His SIL figures as a hogget were: wwtbv 1.16 rank 99; lw8bv 4.65 rank 23; emabv 1.31 rank 38; fw12bv 0.17; nlbbv 11.3%; DPO 676 rank 75. He has a footrot tolerance score of 2.2 and cold tolerance score of B. Ur. (Ur meaning unrecognisable at this point). He has bred very well, consistent. Photo November 2006

533-05.jpg

Waidale 533-05. Once again a good medium sized ram with very good wool and colour. I was and am very pleased with the four rams I kept last year, normally I dont like one or two or all of them by the time mating comes around.  His SIL figures as a hogget were: wwtbv 2.1 rank 7; lw8bv 3.82 rank 55; emabv 0.62 rank 121; fw12bv 0.17; nlbbv 4.3%; DPO 723 rank 59.  He has a footrot tolerance score of 2.2 and  a cold tolerance score of A.B. W350-06 c.jpg

Waidale 350 -06.  He is by 148 above, I used him as a ram lamb over 50 ewes, a very good sheep, good medium wool,  good colour, grunty, out of an outstanding ewe, both  of her lambs in 05 were in the top half dozen ewe hoggets I had. If I was being super critical of him, for a waidale I would like to see a little more bone.   His SIL figures as a hogget are: wwtbv 3.16 rank 12; lw8bv 6.37 rank 11, emabv 1.63  rank 15; nlbbv 21.8% rank 5; fw12bv 0.34 rank 38: DPO 1199 rank 10/527.   350 has a footrot tolerance score of 1,1, and cold tolerance score of A,B. Photo november 2007.  I have semen available for export from 350.

W251-07 website.jpg

Waidale 251-07 is by 5-05 above, I used him as a ram lamb, I sold him as a top flock ram.   But that may have been a mistake, as he has bred well, I used him over 50 ewes as a lamb.  He is grunty, open face, good colour, exceptional wool.

Ld44-06 website.jpg

Langley Downs 44-06.  He is a smaller ram.  He has exceptional spring of rib and hindquarter.   His wool could be a bit heavier.  I have two or three very good rams by him this year, I used one over 50 ewes as a lamb.  He has a footscore of 2,2 and a cold tolerance score of A,A.  Photo taken February 2008.

178-06 website.jpg

Waidale 178-06, he is by Sudeley 192-03, see previous years for photo of sire.   A good medium sized sire, with absolute incedible medium wool, great colour, good black points.  A very good ram, that has done a good job for me, I sold half of him for $2000.  Could perhaps do with a bit more spring.  Photo taken February 2008. He has a footrot score of 2,2 and cold tolerance score of A,B.

Waidale 81-06.jpg

Waidale 81-06.  I put in the Romney New Zealand Meat Yeild Trial, and arguably he was one of the best in that, led in many categories, fastest growth rates, most lambs away early, and right up with the best in carase yeild as well.  He is by Blythburn 139-04 and as such he also has a phenomenal fertility background.   He is by far the best son I got out of 1388, I used as a follow up in 2008, but more extensively in 2009, good colour, good bone, good wool, slightly stronger wool, good black points.  I looking forward to his lambs in 2009.
